I would rate the ITRA initiative very highly on three aspects. Firstly, it is one of the very few programmes, especially in India, that brings collaboration of the top tier institutions with the upcoming institutions, providing opportunity for students to interact with the big names in their domains, which really doesn’t exist in any other project. The second point I would like to highlight is pushing the research to not being limited on paper or have top level publications but also to have societal impact. Thirdly, bringing in international experts help the team benchmark themselves internationally rather than bench-marking them nationally.
